We Interviewed Ace Enders!

Ace Enders broke into the scene with his old band, The Early November. After they split, he formed Ace Enders and A Million Different People. Their debut release is out now and they just released a single for VH1’s Save The Music. Below you can find all the news about the life of Ace as of 12*4*08.

UTG: Hey Ace, how are you doing today?

ACE: I’m excellent. Thank you for asking.

UTG: Well, let’s kick things off with the most recent news in your world, can you tell us about your cover of, “Bittersweet Symphony”?

ACE:  A little bit over a year ago, we had an idea to do a song for charity. It was going to be a holiday song last year, but then we figured that was kind of a one time of the year thing, so we decided to get a bunch of artists together and do something special. We chose “Bittersweet Symphony,” because it’s one of my favorite songs and it’s a really great song. Everyone loved the idea and we went forward with it. I’m really happy with it and think it’ll do well.

UTG: How exactly did you come to work with VH1’s Save The Music Foundation? Did they approach you or vice versa?

ACE: We went out to them. They were really into the idea and loved it. The rest is history.

UTG: You recently got off of tour with Hellogoodbye, how was your outing?

ACE: It was a very good tour. It was a lot of fun to see old friends and catch up.

UTG: When The Early November were around, you guys were a very well known band in the scene. Is it different for you now when you  go out since not everyone is aware of the band prior to a show/release?

ACE: It is very different, but I welcome it with open arms. TEN got kind of stuck in a position where we couldn’t grow anymore because everyone expects something out of you. This is a great second start because we can try things differently. We don’t have anything fully out there, but for the attention we’ve got, it’s awesome.

UTG: What future touring plans do you currently have?

ACE: We are going to Australia for a little bit in February. IN a few weeks we’re going out with Good Old War and Morning Light. After Australia, we’re going on a full US tour with “someone else” headlining. We getting it all set right now, but it looks like it’s going to work out.

UTG: It almost seems like you’re getting a second chance to do the whole music career. Are you doing anything different than the days of TEN?

ACE: I’d say just taking the time to appreciate it a lot more. You know, as a career, to really appreciate i. I’m taking it all in.

UTG: I notice you give away all of your music, well, except for the cover, but that’s 100% for charity. Do you plan to continue doing this or will the next release come with a price?

ACE: We should have a record out this March. Hopefully all goes well. Their will be label backing it and it will be sold, I’m pretty excited about itIt’s been finished, just waiting on the label and such to get it all set.

UTG:It seems like the music industry is in a place where the focus has moved from music to money. Since you give away your music, what keeps you going/how are you able to keep out there?

ACE: That’s a good question [laughs]. Right now, we’re just hoping it all works out. I mean, we make money from touring, but I don’t know, we’re just trying to do things differently and give back to those who support us. It’s a respect thing, we give them a gift and hopefully when the real album comes you people will buy it and not download it. Ya feel me?

UTG: Alright Ace, I think we’re nearing the end of our time. We try to close without a question, but a closing statement from you. The podium is yours, what’s on your mind?

ACE: Oh my God, this is what I’ve been waiting for.

The thing I always try to tell people is that whatever you do or choose to do in life, fully believe in yourself and what you do. Don’t do it for a paycheck, but because it’s what you want to do. We’re not here long enough for that and you need to do what you want to do. Find what you love, respect it, and do it for yourself. That’s what I want to say and a whole bunch of other positive messages and whatnot. That’s my final statement.
