So if you thought the genre of Screamo was being overworked, then think again. They are called Attack Attack!, and they are one of the most relieving sounds to hear in this genre. It’s really hard to really classify them specifically, but if I had to I would call them trancecore. Attack Attack! is from Columbus, Ohio…and no they do not sound like T.D.W.P.

The album Someday Came Suddenly is both catchy and inviting. Attack Attack!’s very first full length (Rise Records) presents a very unique style and sound that you really never hear. I was extremely excited to hear what the band was working on the entire time while they were in the studio, and let me tell you it is a success.

The album starts off with “High Grills, and High Tops” and lets you know that Attack Attack! is not the typical band. It introduces you to the electronic vibes you will hear throughout the album, but with a hip-hop flair.

The Second song entitled “Stick Stickly” starts off heavy with an extremely high scream and slow but heavy guitars playing joined with keyboards to create and extremely epic intro, that soon leads into very low vocals that gives a good sign of how versatile the vocals get. The reason I really like this song is its very upbeat, the keys and drums keep you on your feet joined by meaningful and almost pulverizing vocals. The song varies from being heavy to very happy.

Another song that really impressed me was “The People’s Elbow”. There was something about it that really caught my attention the first listen through, and I wasn’t able to stop. The drums one again keep your attention from wandering. The vocals on this track differ a lot between very trance like to powerful screams. The normal singing on this track is extremely catchy, there’s not really anything special they do on guitars on this track but it really fits the track well at the same time.

“What Happens If I Can’t Check My Myspace When We Get There?” was the song title the caught my attention for sure. As soon as I finished laughing I played the track and I’ll tell you what they named that song to draw more attention to it for sure. This song could possibly work out to be a big hit for these guys in the near future. The guitars are a lot more technical but don’t overpower the rest of the band, the electronics provide that sound that makes you want to stand up and move while the vocals are hard to ignore. The vocals stand out probley the most on this track, and that is a great thing.

The Outro track was the perfect end to the album, with some very almost sorrowful but moving keyboard playing. It was the only thing close to mellow you will find on the album, and shows that these guys can do stuff without being too over the top.

For a debut album, I am proud to say that Attack Attack!’s is a complete and total success. They went into the studio to record and album, and they did just that. Now most bands do that and they albums turn out average with some questionable tracks on them. “Someday Came Suddenly” did not have one track that made me think twice about liking them. Each and every track showed talent and threw out that distinct Attack Attack! sound that should be way more
