Live Report: Atticus Metal Tour

Date: 3/21/09

Venue: Majestic Theatre (Detroit, MI)

Bands:

Emmure
Winds Of Plague
Terror
All Shall Perish
The Ghost Inside

The Atticus Metal Tour is one of the biggest metal tours this spring, so I was very excited to go to this, especially for the fact that Emmure and Winds of Plague were playing. It was a pretty small venue, not the best venue but it wasn’t terrible. One downside was the no smoking policy they had in effect sucked.

The Ghost Inside: I missed them because of a ticket “situation”.

All Shall Perish: These guys were fantastic. They sounded good live, which is always a good thing and they had some really good showmanship, which got the crowd even more pumped. They played a pretty decent sized set. They had a huge energy level and everyone in the band sounded good live.

Terror: During their set the fans got a lot more pumped up then All Shall Perish. For one fan, he got a little bit to into the music decided to do a stage dive, landed on his neck and died. I never saw anything like that in my life. The security moved the body and the band continued on stating “Alright we still have 3 more songs for you”. I had never actually listened to the band and they were pretty good and played a long set.

Winds Of Plague: The main reason that I wanted to go to this tour was for this band. They have been one of my favorites for awhile now. They have that unique sound which is very hard to capture. I had always wondered if they would be good or terrible live. They were absolutely fantastic. They sounded perfect. They played one new track that will be on an upcoming album they will be recording soon. They sounded just like their recorded tracks but a little bit better. The only complaint I had is their set seemed really short.

Emmure: Alright so the headliner normally makes the show. I wasn’t so sure if that would happen at this concert after seeing Winds of Plague previously. I thought wrong, they completely blew me away. They sounded great live, they had fantastic stage presence, the got the crowd going, and my god was their set list fantastic. They played a pretty long set, which is always nice when it’s a band you love. They put their hearts into this performance and it showed. I could barley even breathe by the end of their set from moving around so much and screaming along with the music. My good friend got so into the music he did a stage dived that landed him with a broken wrist.

So if you want metal, awesome bands, the experience of a lifetime, then go to this tour! There are still plenty of dates left so don’t miss out.
