First Impressions is a segment where we let you into our early thoughts on a highly anticipated album, This week, we have our early views on The Secret Handshake’s . It drops April 21st.
Call me a late adopter, but I was never big on The Secret Handshake until recently. That is, until I saw Luis Dubuc [TSH] at SxSW in March. I’d heard and enjoyed the singles, as well as the cover song, but it never seemed like something I needed to pay attention to until I saw it live. Considering the amount of effects in his music, this came as quite a surprise. However,t his new record loses a lot of the vocoder in order to create a more organic, though still high energy sound that really is in a league of its own. If you’ve never liked TSH before, be prepared to be changed and if you’re an old time fan, prepare for something a bit different.
