I’m sure I wasn’t the only one a little let down by Emery’s last full length, I’m Only A Man. I’m all for a band changing and evolving, but the record just felt chopped together very awakwardly and nothing really fit or worked out how it was intended. Basically, a lot of great ideas that didn’t play out as well as expected, but then last year we got some hope for the group with their While Broken Hearts Prevail EP. Taking some tracks from this and adding a whole lot of rock, we get In Shallow Seas We Sail. Now, I’ve only had the record for a few days, but I can tell you it’s been played at least 5 times in its entirety already. Think The Weak’s End meets The Question and you get this record. It’s everything Emery is good at with a fine trace of extra chugs. this record is instantly a contender for album of the year. If you thought they were down and out, prepared to be proven wrong. On June 2nd, the boys are back in town.
