Almost a year since we last heard Aaron “Tech N9ne” Yates on his ’08 release entitled Killer, Tech responds back to us all with a collaboration album that’s one for the ages! That’s right, Sickology 101 is one helluva album and has by far surpassed nearly all of his colleagues in the rapping profession. Tech schooled us all on this one with beats, rhymes, flow, delivery….everything!
Coupled with amazing beats and amazing rhymes, Tech and Nina features both an ill lineup of featured artists and an assembly of up-and-coming beatsmiths that will be knocking your speakers many times in the near future. Here’s the roster of album features that made this drop come full circle: Krayzie Bone, Chino XL, Crooked I and Messy Marv. Not to mention the many voices from the Strange Music camp that we are all accustom to hearing on all of the recent Tech N9ne projects. YoungFyre and Matic Lee mostly produced all the beats, but one producer stuck out to me the most…Adam “Wyshmaster” Cherrington who has two beats on the album. You may of heard Wysh on many different projects from Myspace, Soundclick, MP3.com and video games like Narc for rappers across the Internet. Watch out for this dude, he’s on his way—trust me.

By far the biggest characteristic that stands out with this collabo’ album is Tech N9ne’s delivery and flow—just like every single one of his albums. You heard it here folks and I know I’m not standing on an island by my lonesome when I say that Tech has the most polished delivery in the game. This drop has some amazing mastering behind the vocals and Tech’s presence on the mic carriers right off the beat into your subconscious and messes with your head. Oh by the way…I forgot to mention that Tech N9ne experimented with Autotune on this go around and it sounds insane. This dude can really croon. Period. The track, “Blown Away,” gives me chills every time I hear Nina flipping on us with a ridiculous flow and then switching up on the hook to get his T-Pain on. Gotta love it!
There are too many standout tracks on Sickology 101 and there is a lot of replay value on there too. Tracks like, “Sickology 101”, “Blown Away”, “In The Air”, “Midwest Choppers 2” and “Red Nose,” had me pressing the repeat button on my stereo deck for a week straight. This album is no joke and the proof is in the pudding. I’m STILL shocked by Tech N9ne’s pen game and the lyrics spit over his joints. He touched on almost every topic like partying, drinking, Midwest representing and even a Rakim and Keyshia Cole diss. Just press play already! C’mon!
Next up to bat is Tech N9ne’s newest album that drops October 27th of this year that is entitled K.O.D. Be on the look out for that during football season. Also make sure you hit up Wyshmaster’s website and pay tribute to one of the illest producers making his way up the ranks and using the Internet as his vehicle to do so too. Find him @ www.wyshmaster.com and send him an e-pat-on-the-back for all the hard work he has done.
