I know it’s over 2 months away, but I couldn’t help writing about this amazing record already. Now, personally, I was never too into The Format, but as soon as I head “At Least I’m Not As Sad..” from Fun [ex Format’s lead vocalist’s new band], I knew I was hearing something special. I furious began writing every industry person I thought could put me in touch with the band and finally, weeks later, I have the record [though unmastered] in my possession. However, even without all the studio magic worked on it, I can assure you that you won’t find another album like this released in all on 2009. The orchestration and structure of every song is so unique only this group could develop it and make it work in a live setting [as I’ve heard they do quite well]. “Benson Hedges” begins like a Southern Gospel megahit and become a 70’s pop song, while “All The Pretty Girls” comes across liek a 70’s top 40 hit with the simplicity of a 50’s diner scene from a film like Grease. The entire record continues this way, blending genres of nearly every decade together to create a timeless sounding record that is sure to pull in scenester, hipsters, and parents alike. It’s the most…well…fun that you’ll have this year with any band. I assure you of this. forget crunkcore, scenecore, screamo laced hip hop, or whatever you call it and look into the truly talented, catchy, and creative world of Fun as soon as possible. You won’t be sorry.

  2. I don’t agree with everything in this summary, but you do make some very good points. I’m very interested in this topic and I myself do alot of research as well. Either way it was a well thoughtout and nice read so I figured I would leave you a comment. Feel free to check out my website sometime and let me know what you think.
