Remembering Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson – Beat It (Live from Bad Tour 1987)

For me, there are too many hits to name before you would get sick of reading my post so I will stay away from doing just that. I would like to just relay a few of my memories and tell how Michael Jackson has impacted my life.

I can recall countless and endless days I’ve had in the past at work where the workload would be getting heavier by the second and the orders for burgers would keep flying in to the MICROs hotprinter. The wonders of cooking at a local burger joint during the summer, right? Many of those nights I would cope with the stress by throwing on my favorite Michael Jackson CDs and just sing outloud all night long and before I even knew it…it was time to punch out! Oh Michael, how you have helped me so many times.

I can recall all the countless and endless hours I have spent driving in my car to and from school on the freeway, which always seemed like an eternity to commute. But again, MJ was there to help pass the time while I rolled past cars crooning, “the kid is not my son,” with my windows down and my smile as big as it could get.

So Michael…

I am sorry that you had to pass away, when for the last couple of years you have only seen turmoil from the public eye and have been frowned upon and joked on by commercial television programming. If only you could see today how many of your fans have rejoiced full circle to celebrate your life and career, which has inspired every soul who has ever turned on one of your records.

I am sorry that you had to pass away, when your fans have failed to show how much they truly love you these last couple of years. Yesterday countless fans sprinted to be by your side as you passed away at that hospital in LA. They never really understood how meaningful your life was until you faced death in the eye.

I am sorry that you had to pass away, when you were days away from writing the last chapter in the Michael Jackson musical career book. I know so many fans are upset that they will never get to see you on tour this year. It would have been an epic ending to an already amazing story penned by the most influential author of music.

So before the ink has even finished running on the last page you wrote for us, I would like to extend my gratitude toward your life and thank you for the times I got to share with you. Whether it was at work, in my car, or strolling down the sidewalk with my iPod, I will miss you, but will never forget you. You were like a distance friend that I would keep deep in the back of my heart and in the front of my soul. A perfect friendship.

Thanks for all the memories.

Your friend,

Brandon
