Given the unending popularity of our last Brokencyde review, it seems only fitting that I return to give you not only my views, but our staff as a whole’s thoughts on this group’s newest effort, I’m Not A Fan, But The Kids Like IT which takes just over an hour to sit through [if you last that long] and contains 19 tracks. That’s right, this group felt the need to put out 19 songs, but couldn’t write over an hour’s worth of material. Who do they think they are, Operation Ivy? Oh lord, please don’t tell me they think they’re that cool.
I don’t want to take up too much of your time discussing the formalities of this record. No, the group hasn’t changed their combination of terrible hip hop style lyrics and [wannabe] hardcore screams mixed over near Garageband like beats. They stand for everything wrong with society today and contain more cliches than a top 40 rap album [which I think they are aiming to be, but they only cracked the Billboard 100 opening at #87 – which is still far too high]. The group contains more members than necessary and write lyrics that not only make little sense, but almost literally rape the English language and show zero remorse for doing so. They pride themselves on being hated and to be honest, they’re chuckling and hitting on minors all the way to the bank.
The album itself, as if I need to even say so at this point, is a well produced trainwreck of noise. Starting off with a pointless intro followed by the group’s breakout “hit,” “Freaxx,” the album let’s you know right away what you’re in for and at least they had the decency to do that. If you listen to this track, which features a simplistic beat, pointless screams, autotune, and lyrics about sex and partying and don’t gouge your eyes out, you may just be a future Brokencyde [aka, you should never visit UTG again]. The group does fill the album with new “songs” meant to offend parents and arouse girls, which surely will do one of those things and not the one that makes the girl regret the night before. The group actually have lines requesting girls shave their “pubes” and another where they abuse the English language and females by saying, “eenie meenie miny mo, so much b*tches at our show.” Really? So much? Somewhere, there’s a teacher who just began to feel as if they’ve failed at life.
As the album moves along we have E-40 putting a huge black mark on his career by appearing on “Booty Call” which actually features the line “shake it like some chocolate milk.” Also, we have about 14 more songs I’ve yet to mention or reference that do nothing be reiterate that the band likes to drink, party, smoke weed, and have sex [with “scene girls,” minors, wives, whatever]. It’s a shameful display of gluttony that is so ludicrous, disturbing, and downright awful that even listening to the description makes you feel the need to repent.
I’m not going to waste anymore of my or your time discussing this album. If it’s true that this is what the youth of America wants, someone book me a ticket for Canada. NOW. I’m Not A Fan, But The Kids Like It is the Gigli of the music business. I think it’s best if we all just move on and act like it doesn’t exist because this group has garnered their 40 million Myspace plays and record deal from the amount of word of mouth they generate. Whether good or bad, there is no such thing as bad publicity and until we all realize that, they will continue to laugh all the way to the bank. Also, if you allow your teen daughters to attend a Brokencyde show, you may want to invest in chastity belt or make an appointment at Planned Parenthood. I’m not joking.

never mind the fact that every song that is taken from the BC13 ep is so much worse. skitzo was the only song of theirs I could stand, probably because it was 2 minutes long. they made it 4 minutes long and added in horrible pig squeals. if BC13 was half a star, this CD deserves 0.
