Wolfmother Hit the Road

From the press release:

Fresh off the heels of a run as main support for The Killers, Wolfmother have announced their first North American headlining tour in over 2 years! Before saying goodbye to The Killers on the road, Wolfmother front man Andrew Stockdale joined Brandon Flowers and company on stage for a special cover of The Animals’ “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.” The guitar driven rendition of the classic track marked one of the tour’s many highlights and was captured on video by a fan.

Amidst all the highlights on tour Wolfmother was able to sneak into New York to debut some of the songs from their forthcoming album Cosmic Egg at a secret show that Rolling Stone described as, “a ferocious set of riotous-riffing and prog-rock ecstasy.”

Wolfmother’s cross-country trek will be kicking-off at the House of Blues in Dallas, TX on the 29th of October and wrapping up 20 cities later at the legendary Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles (see full list of tour dates below). Support for all shows will come from thenewno2 and Heartless Bastards.

Limited pre-sale begins September 16th through Musictoday. Exclusive pre-sale offers include a trial membership to The Wolfies, Wolfmother’s official fan club, and opportunities to pre-order Cosmic Egg with your tickets, plus one lucky fan and a guest at each show will win a meet and greet with Wolfmother! General on sales for all shows begin Friday, September 18th.

In a first for the band, Wolfmother has partnered with Musictoday & Trees for the Future, planting one tree in a third world country for every pre-sale ticket sold. Says Andrew Stockdale, “This is something I’ve wanted to do for some time, it’s great to have the opportunity to contribute to the preservation of our environment.”

October 27th celebrates the release of the aforementioned Cosmic Egg, recorded with heralded UK producer Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, nine inch nails) and follow-up to the band’s 2006 self-titled debut, which included “Woman,” the 2007 Grammy winner for Best Hard Rock Performance. “New Moon Rising” the first single off the record, is already #36 on the iTunes charts and climbing.

Stockdale also recently recorded as part of Beck’s Record Club. Stockdale joins the company of artists hand-picked by Beck such as MGMT, Devandra Banhart and Little Joy member Bikini to reinterpret choices from Songs of Leonard Cohen. Each track will be released individually exclusively on Beck.com.
