Julian Casablancas: Next Member of The Strokes To Go Solo

Provided By Pitchfork

Have you listened to the Strokes’ first two albums recently? If not, they’re definitely worth a Friday afternoon revisit– those songs show no wrinkles. If anything, they somehow sound tighter now than ever.

So, even if we haven’t heard anything truly phenomenal from the Strokes camp in six years, we’re still cautiously optimistic about frontman Julian Casablancas’s solo album, Phrazes for the Young. It’s out October 19 in the UK (October 20 in the U.S.) courtesy of RCA, and now we have the first single, called “11th Dimension”. It’s a big tune– busting at the seams with totally-80s synths, twisting guitar lines, and Casablancas’s own one-of-a-kind croon. There’s even a Mozart by-way-of Daft Punk’s “Aerodynamic” bridge!
