Fans had to wait 11 years for Portishead’s 2008 LP, Third, but their fourth record is already in progress, according to member Geoff Barrow. “We’re going to start writing and if all goes well it could be [out] in a year’s time,” he told the BBC. And since the group is currently label-less, Barrow hinted that the new music may not be released as a traditional LP, telling NME that Portishead have “big plans” for a new project coming “from a different angle.” It doesn’t get much more vague than that, but hey, good to know we won’t have to wait until Obama leaves office for something new from these guys.
