Two years may seem like a short time for a band to be together, the members of World In Arms have been garnering experience in other bands for nearly 10 years. Whether it’s just hanging around at practice or tearing up whatever venue is set in front of them, the huge grins that rarely leave their faces are proof that they couldn’t be happier to devote their time and energy to World In Arms.  They have one core motto, “Take your music seriously. You don’t have to take yourself seriously.” With a new EP in the works and upcoming plans for touring the East Coast, it is clear that this band has no intention of ever slowing down, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
For me, World in Arms’ latest release, In Hopes The Past Will Fade, was the reminder of how good hardcore could be that I [and I think this scene] have needed for quite some time. Remember when it wasn’t about how many samples you fit into a song or what company made the shirts you put on to play? I know it may seem like a distant memory, but pick any one of the ferocious tracks on this release and you’ll be right back to that moment when you knew hardcore had something to offer you.
World in Arms may not be the newest sound on the market and they really aren’t changing the face of modern hardcore. However, they are one of the most brilliant, hardworking, deserving bands we at UTG have ever been lucky enough to find [before they explode]. In Hopes the Past Will Fade is a dazzling display of just how honest and intense music can be. It’s not about the look, the fans, the miles on the van, or the notoriety with these guys, no, they are driven by passion and that’s exactly what this scene [and industry] needs more now than ever.
