UTG EXCLUSIVE: Stream Harley Poe’s “Wretched. Filthy. Ugly.” Album!

This UTG EXCLUSIVE STREAM is one that hits very close to home for me [James]. One of the reasons I ever got into music as much as I have [read: one of the only reasons UTG exists] is because of a now defunct folk punk act called Calibretto 13. Hailing from Indiana, Calibretto 13 was Tooth and Nail Records oddest act and became mildly successful with their cover of “Ballroom Blitz” and the endlessly catchy song of friendship, “High 5,” but broke up in 2004 and left a giant hole in the acoustic punk scene. Lucky for fans, lead singer Joe Whiteford started a new project, the folk horror punk outfit Harley Poe and the rest, as they say, is acoustic punk history. Now with their newest release, Wretched. Filthy. Ugly., Whiteford and the rest of Harley Poe take you through a freakshow of sorts and channel everything from The Violent Femmes to Andrew Jackson Jihad in the process. This is a great album for anyone who love horror movies, acoustic punk, and innuendo. If you like what you hear, be sure to pick up your own copy from Chain Smoking Records and keep an eye on the group’s Myspace for future tour dates.
