My Morning Jacket To Play Five Full Albums For NYC

According to a press release issued yesterday, My Morning Jacket will be performing five of their albums, starting from 1999’s Tennessee Fire all the way through 2008’s Evil Urges, in their respective entirety at NYC’s Terminal 5 from October 18-23. After each night’s performance of the particular album, MMJ will also play a typically varied set of tunes, however we’re guessing, seeing as they will have played/or will be playing cuts from their albums on the other nights of the 5-night run, fans can expect some deep tracks for the non-album sets.

All of the dates will go on sale individually June 18th, but for hardcore fans who want to experience all five nights, there will be a special pre-sale. Five-show ticket packages go on sale June 14th. As with their upcoming tour dates in August, the band will be donating $1 from each ticket to a different local charity each night.

In our exclusive interview with the band prior to their headlining gig at Sasquatch, James highlighted one of the trends that is sure to be quite evident throughout the multi-night NYC treat— that is, the band’s unwillingness to accept the status quo when recording. James explained how each album the band has created is really an evolutionary process. James went on to add that the band members draw inspiration from their side projects each time they enter the studio in order to create a completely new and innovative product.

Seeing as James has been quite busy lately with his own gigs—first with the supergroup Monsters of Folk, and then with his solo George Harrison tribute, under the moniker Yim Yames— Jacket’s next album should be chock full o’ new musical treats. In the meantime, those fans lucky enough to score tickets to the epic NYC run of shows will have to settle for the sure-to-be legendary performances of the band’s first five albums.

In other news, Jim James was recently spotted thoroughly enjoying a burrito backstage at Sasquatch, while a clearly excited fan truly relished the moment. We just wonder if the fan was more excited to meet James, or because of the delicious burrito in his proximity.
