“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” tops box office, still disappoints

To the surprise of nobody, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was the biggest film in North America over the weekend, bringing in $90.1 million in ticket sales. While that number would be impressive for almost any film, it is pennies compared to the literally record shattering opening weekend numbers of the series’ previous entries. Regardless, it looks like Disney will most likely be continuing the Pirates‘ trend with even more installments in coming years.

In other box office news, Bridesmaids took in another $21 million to raise its ten-day total to $59.5. Also, Marvel’s Thor brought in $15.5 million to raise its total to $145.5 after 17 days.
