The weekend box office figures are in and, to almost no surprise, X-Men: First Class has come out victorious. Opening slightly weaker than hoped at $54 million, the film still did better than the original film incarnation in 2000 (which opened at $50 million).
Last week’s number one film, The Hangover 2, dropped a staggering 62% in its second week, ending up with $32.4 million ($186 million to date). Analysts are blaming poor word-of-mouth for the film’s drop in attendance, but we think it isn’t our fault the movie is terrible.
Finally, a big congratulations is due to Kristen Wiig and the entire cast of Bridesmaids for finally crossing the $100 million mark this weekend after four weeks in release.
