Cartoon Network broke hearts across the, well, planet earlier today when they officially announced plans to begin developing a live action adaptation of their timeless Captain Planet cartoon.
“Captain Planet” centers on five kids from across the world who are given superpowers to fight environmental disasters, which makes for a near-perfect combination of mindless entertainment and sly political overtones that would make Al Gore squeal with glee.
This news comes on the heels of Cartoon Network’s recent announcement of plans to transform the cartoon Ben 10 into a live action feature as well. A move which lead many to believe, and upon today’s new all out believe, that the media company will soon begin turning more and more of their properties into theatrical features.
No word yet on a director, plot, or cast, but hopefully a few of the original cast agree to lend their voices.

I have a bad feeling about this. Can’t Hollywood come up with some original ideas?!?
