FIRST LOOK: The new Superman from 2013’s “Man Of Steel”

Superman is coming back and I can’t say I blame Hollywood for doing so. Superman Returns, while valient in effort, was a colossal clusterf*ck of a superhero film. Bad acting, bad effects, and possibly the most boring story conceivable for a character capable of nearly anything (other than recognizing his own child).

This new portrayal of Superman is being helmed by actor Henry Cavill and director Zack “I like changing frame rates the way JJ Abrams likes lens flares” Snyder under the title Man Of Steel. Though not scheduled to arrive in theater until 2013 (most likely to avoid battling The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers at the box office), Warner Bros. released the first image of Cavill in the iconic suit earlier today. Check it out below and stay tuned for what will surely be hundreds of updates on this film over the next two years.

Man of Steel is being produced by Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, from a story by Goyer and Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Comics. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.
