More acts confirmed at Michael Jackson tribute gig

On October 8, 2011 at Cardiff’s Millenium Stadium, some of the biggest artists in the world will come together for a tribute show to the late King of Pop. In addition to some of the Jackson 5 (and the next-generation of Jacksons, 3T), confirmed acts include Cee Lo Green, Smokey Robinson, and the Alien Ant Farm. Recently added are megastars Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, and JLS. Even more big-name acts are expected to be released in the next few days.

The show has received the full support of the Jackson family, who are striving to make as massive an event as possible. Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine, stated,

When I was told some of the names of the artists performing I knew it would be fit for a king. If my son was here today he would feel the same way. I will be there along with as many members of my family that can make it. It is intended to be the biggest and best concert in the world for many years to come.

The stadium was chosen for its seating capacity (75,000 people) as well as its ability to appear intimate when the sliding roof is closed. The show is expected to draw people from around the world, and Roger Lewis, chief executive of the company that owns the stadium, Welsh Rugby Union, hopes it will also serve as an economic boost for Wales and its economy.

All proceeds from the concert P will go to three charities that Jackson supported – The Prince’s Trust, Aids Project Los Angeles and a cancer charity.
