For the first time in three years, the renowned memorial mural for the late singer-songwriter Elliott Smith was updated on Saturday, August 6 for his birthday. (He would have turned 42). To celebrate the occasion, a group of anonymous artists touched up the mural and also added a stencil of Smith standing where he appears on the album cover for his 2000 release Figure 8. The mural was originally created shortly after his death in 2003 outside Solutions Audio in Los Angeles, California. You can view pics of the mural from LAist here.
