Tragic accident leaves 4 dead and 40 injured at Indiana concert

A tragic accident at the Indiana State Fair, August 13, left four people dead and at least 40 people are known to be injured.

The event featured country music group Sugarland as its main headliner, however, it ended suddenly at 9pm when gusts of winds measured at over 60 mph tore down the stage. Dave Busten confirmed that many of the wounded were being treated in local hospitals but he also made it clear that there could be other deaths.

According to a reported for The Indianapolis Star, Dave Lindquist, the stage fell directly on top of some audience members. He said:

“The gusts of wind came, there was no rain yet and the production fell from left to right. And you could clearly see people where under the footprint of the rigging.”

The concert was canceled for today, August 14, as a mark of respect. It is expected to resume Monday, August 15, with a tribute to honor the victims.
