Linda Perry disses Katy Perry

What started out as a simple interview backstage at the Ford Amphitheater in Hollywood turned ugly when Linda Perry–former singer for 4 Non Blondes and songwriter for P!nk, Christina Aguilera, and Gwen Stefani–was asked about the state of the music industry. That’s never a good question to ask….

Perry was first asked about Adele, and, though she doesn’t call herself a fan, acknowledges that the British sensation has produced a “solid” record. But when asked to compare Adele to Katy Perry, who recently snagged the record for most number one singles off of the same album, Linda Perry was less forgiving.

Like, who wants a fucking Katy Perry record? I’m sorry. You know, you’re gonna get the two songs that are probably the hits that are good, but the rest of the album is gonna be crap. It is, it’s gonna sound like shit and who cares about buying that record? So people download the single and then that’s it.
