The Flaming Lips To Record Six-Hour Song For Charity

In typical Flaming Lips fashion, the band will be taking on yet another unconventional enterprise by recording a six hour long song entitled “Found a Star on the Ground”.

The track will be created in order to benefit the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma. Possibly the most exciting part about this project is that you can get your name written into the lyrics however the band wishes to do so by donating $100 to the cause. If you know anything about The Flaming Lips, it’s most likely the fact that they’re constantly thinking outside of the box with their music, merchandise, live shows, and almost any and all other projects they take on.

Earlier this year, the band released four new songs stored on a USB drive that comes inside of an edible candy skull. Prior to that, last year, frontman Wayne Coyne printed a limited edition poster using his own blood which you can view the video of after the jump.
