Former Dream Theater Member Files Lawsuit Against The Group

Mike Portnoy, former member of Dream Theater, has allegedly filed suit against his band mates for carrying on without him. These charges were supposedly filed in April.

Portnoy states, “They are wrongfully using the name of the band in connection with the promotion of live performances by the individual defendants, without the participation or consent of myself.” and quote, “wrongfully using the name of the band in connection with their recording of an album without the participation or consent of myself.”

These allegations are not taken lightly in the music world. If the defendants (Dream Theater) are found guilty it could lead to major changes for the band.

When the news broke mainstream, Portnoy posted messages on his Facebook page trying to calm the storm so to speak.

Portnoy posted, “If I could openly talk about this stuff and explain the REALITY of everything, I would love nothing more!!! But I am legally unable to discuss it… In the meantime, life is bright and positive…I am happy and so are they….so shouldn’t YOU be too??? Don’t believe the hype…Carpe Diem!” It seems that Portnoy is not trying to create negativity but instead stand up for what he feels he deserves.
