Hey bassheads! Happy Friday as always! I’m glad you could be with me this week, because I’ve got a fuselage turgid with explosive bass, and a bomb-bay door with a hair-trigger. Keep your eyes on the sky, because this new dub, moombah and electro stuff I have for you today is weapons-grade. That’s it, bassheads. I just can’t stall any more. Sound the sirens because it’s bass bombs away!

Skream brings it with this track. Every week I wonder if the dubstep roots are starting to turn grey. But then I hear a heavy choon like this, and all of my fears fade away. Thank you, Skream. You set the standard of keeping it real.

This choon comes at us from those good folks over at the Ministry of Sound. Hook & Sling put some great energy into the already bouncy Wolf n’ Will cut. The phasy chord transitions and glistening key-hits ramp you up into the moombhastic beat with precision, and the glitchy vocals keep you riveted throughout the changing percussive elements, which are crisp and delightful.

Another bit of love sent our way care of The Ministry, here’s the same Wolf n’ Will track rehashed yet again, this time by Tom Starr. The lead-in is solid, cascading into another moombah-groove. This one makes use of 8-bit arpeggiation and warbly-creepy saws, and the screechy-trumpety lead captures your attention as soon as it steps in to the spotlight. On the whole, this chune has a great feel to it, and will almost certainly get any party bouncing proper.

  • SPEAKING OF the Ministry of Sound, there’s been an update regarding their current zoning issues. Long story short, you can still sign the petition to save the Ministry from imminent shut-down until October 11. That means you still have 17 days to help save the iconic cultural monument to modern music that is the Ministry of Sound. Since you only have 17 days, I suggest making quick work of it right now by clicking below, and filling out the short form. The Ministry will be forever grateful.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Drop Goblin – Stereo Hearts (Tribute Remix)

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/23896760″]
You know, dubstep purists will shit, but I like this! it’s poppy, and light, and cheerful, and… well… damnit… FUN! It’s got this beachy-chill reggae feel grappling at the beat and vocals, that’s balanced out nicely with a good, clean snare, chunky power-bass, and sharp lead hits. Have at it, dancers!

  • NEW SINGLE: Zeds Dead and The Killabits – Bassmentality

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/23825767″]
Here’s a truly sick new two-track nugget to get you through the week. Zeds Dead, The Killabits, and Figure take hold of the wheel for just four dollars on Beatport. Don’t you love it when you can stream the whole thing for free, though? Listen, enjoy, support!

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: DJ Icey – Dancing as the Sun Goes Down

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/23760610″]
Wait no longer, the filth has been brought before you. DJ Icey is anything but gentle with this dirty, dirty dubstep number. The high-range instruments are silky and trippy, and the vocals are tense and clean. The drop fits perfectly, and exemplifies what filth-fiends like to see on the menu. The bass leads are squitty and bulbous, and the bright melodies soften the jagged, bassy edges with resolve.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Rawr! – Chour Face (Rickyxsan Remix)

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/23736433″]
You know, I second guessed this going into it… at first listen, it feels a little amateur. Not that it’s bad, don’t get me wrong. It’s just like the seams are still showing a little. Other than that, I think it’s a superb track. The levels are all in the right place, it grooves from beginning to end, and the individual elements are impressively mastered, and the beat has that organic feel that only comes with experience. Kudos to Rickyxsan on the professional work.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: DJ DaGo – Adrenaline (Original Mix)

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/23877548″]
Bappy trumpet, tell-tale kicks, and massive space give this original track by DJ DaGo a very danceable groove. This is one dutch house track you will want to get your parcimonious hands on!

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: P0gman – Gr00vin

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/23927425″]
Heads up Skream! Look out Caspa! Move aside Distance! P0gman seems to have found the vein you’ve all been siphoning, and he’s got some good pressure in the lines already. The bass here is so, so expressive. The “Gyeah Gyeah Gyeah”s are hyper-charged, brutal and unrelenting. the drums are tasteful, industrial and darkly sparse, leaving room for the territorial and violent bass to breathe… fire.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Garbage – Only Happy When It Rains (Toltex Remix)

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/23721931″]
I love me some garbage. And I can never, ever turn down grimy, filthy, wobbly bass remixes. The vocals and the wobbles play very nice together here. Enjoy this!

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Kelly Roland – Motivation (DNAEBEATS Remix)

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/23735144″]
The drums in this track are textbook dub. The bass is quick and chunky, supported with decent vocals and very subtle bell-work. The breaks open the groove up nicely, and the void is adequately filled with rap. Yup, I like it.

That’s all for today, bassheads! As always, I hope your bass demons are well satiated. Thanks for hearing me out once again this week, and I look forward to being your number one purveyor of bass, yet again next week.
