J. Cole Debuts At Number One, Blink Opens In Third

“Rapper,” which I’m using lightly here, J. Cole has debuted atop this week’s Billboard album chart, leaving a pop’s new queen and pop punk’s aging deities in the dust.

According to a report on Hits Daily Double, Cole’s Cole World: A Sideline Story moved an estimated 161,576 units in the final week of September, besting second place finisher Adele by nearly 50,000. Blink-182, whose album  Neighborhoods came in third, managed to move a still impressive 75,000.

While Cole’s numbers are huge and Blink’s may be a little lower than expected, the real story here is still Adele. Released when snow was still on the ground, 21 continues to prove that real talent will always have a place in pop culture.

This week, Transit’s highly anticipated album Listen & Forgive hits shelves. Any guesses on how well it’ll sell? Comment below and let us know!

Why would you use “rapper” lightly here? Have you ever listened to J. Cole’s music? He’s really fucking talented and he’s definitely not the kind of rapper you should be putting in quotation marks
