Jonny Craig Released From Prison

UTG recently brought you news Dance Gavin Dance vocalist Jonny Craig’s narcotics arrest in California. At the time of the post, Craig’s bail was set at $15,000 and a hearing was schedule for the next morning. Nearly two weeks have passed and finally, we have an update.

This morning we received a phone call from the Solano County Sheriff informing us Jonny was officially released from prison yesterday, October 31.

Jonny is not out of the clear yet. He will still have to return to court and face his charges, but for now he can (hopefully) rest a little better and begin seeking the help he needs.

We will continue to keep you updated as this story develops. If you’d like to support Dance Gavin Dance while Jonny is away, click here and buy their new “Free Jonny Craig” t-shirt.

UPDATE: Indiestar has provided the following details on Jonny’s release – “Jonathan Craig was released on October 31st from Solano County (CA) Jail by order of the judge through California’s drug diversion program. Upon his release, Mr. Craig is court ordered to complete time in drug rehab, if he makes a mistake, he’ll be sent back to jail and likely be sentenced to serve some time.

Penal Code 1000 PC is California’s deferred entry of judgment (“DEJ”) program. It’s drug diversion that allows eligible defendants to be “diverted” out of the criminal court system and into a drug rehabilitation program. Eligibility into the program is based upon your charges, the defendant must be charged with using or possessing drugs (not selling them) and the crime committed must not involve any allegations of violence.

  1. They should’ve let him rot in there

For what? drugs? they have better people to store in prison.

Have you ever listened to his collab work in Isles & Glaciers? That was a really great collaboration of lyricism and vocals.
Oh but I forgot you’re one of those people who like songs where it’s just smashing, banging and loud guitars the whole time while a dude yells, and swears; makes sense now..

  3. Hey. says:

His musical talent is irrelevant. He committed a crime, regardless of the severity, & now he has to pay. If normal people go to jail for this, so should he. I admire his work, but as I said before, it’s irrelevant.

  4. Jackie Rainer says:

    Irrelevant???? Yes….
BUT consider how many other regular ppl get their slaps on the wrist!
so just cause he is a talented and AMAZING vocalist that is envied by many doesnt mean he should get anything worse then what a regular person does!!!
