The worlds of music, skating, and fashion are a shade of grey today following the passing of Vans co-founder James Van Doren. He was 72.

James and his brother Paul opened their first Vans store in 1966 and have since pushed the counter culture into the mainstream. From their iconic canvas shoes, to helping Kevin Lyman keep Warped Tour going and beyond, it’s safe to say James impacted each and every one of our lives to varying degrees.
