Maybe it is just us, but when someone goes on hiatus we expect that they will not be making headlines for awhile. Apparently, The Black Eyed Peas disagree.

Recently, The Black Eyed Peas appeared on Ellen to discuss music and life. During the interview, Ellen turned her focus to the group’s recently announced hiatus and the band responded in detail. You can view video of the interview below, but for those lacking that kind of time (or focus), just know that Will.I.Am said “When we take breaks, we work on side projects or get our little personal stuff in order to then come back and make beautiful music.”

The band will perform their final show before going on hiatus tonight. We cannot say that we will miss them, especially given the onslaught of solo records they have planned, but their impact on music as a whole will definitely be felt for a long time to come.
