Pardon Me (Movie Soundtrack) by Stizreth

Look out, conventional music, Stizreth is here to shatter your preconceived notions once and for all. I got behind Seth a few weeks back, and since then the guy has exploded. Everything this guy touches turns to blood-drenched gold. Every time I hear one of his tracks, it’s literally the best control of sonic environment I’ve heard to date. With Stizreth, each song is characteristically better than the previous. I just don’t know he accomplishes so much with so little… as an amateur musician myself, it just makes me sick with envy. This one is a melodic expansion from his previous work. The lead synth steals the show, carrying you up and down the tense scales with ease and confidence, while the undulating beat churns beneath the surface, and crawls under your skin like a welcome addiction. The vocals on this track are exquisite, the saws are clean and huge… Stizreth is quickly establishing his style, and writing it in stone. Keep up the amazing work, brother.

Jaya Prime – Witching Wall (ZitanB Remix) by ZitanB

Here’s something a little along the same vein. ZitanB has definitely been playing the ambient/deep game for a while now, and his experience shows. The Spanish guitar sound identifies this track, with pitch-shifted vocals and thick, washy pads filling in the gaps. The song is melancholic and straining, and the beat is comfortably paced. The elements are a good blend, but the track feels very, very full. If I had to lodge one complaint, it would be “too much,” but that’s only if I had to. It’s a rich soundscape with a lot of detail to get lost in. Make sure to show this kiwi some love if you like his stuff!

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Hiatus & Shura – Fortune’s Fool (Sorrow Remix)

Hiatus & Shura – Fortune’s Fool (Sorrow Remix) by •Sorrow

It leads off strong with some pleasant vocals, and swooshy pads. The percussive elements are amazing, and remain in the forefront of the song throughout. The hats, snares, and other hits are mixed down to a perfectly condensed canvass of snaps, clicks and cracks that carry you down the path to immersion in no time at all. The vocals remind me of a number of Kaskade tracks, and it definitely taps into the same type of enjoyment I typically get from his work. The piano-and-rain refrain breaks up the groove and sucks you down into an almost meditative mind-frame that soothes the soul like a delightfully sad movie. It’s deep, mellow and perfect for this blissfully lethargic holiday weekend.

  • FREE MIX DOWNLOAD: Skrillex – BBC Radio 1 Mix

Skrillex – BBC Radio One Mix by

Oooh shit, here it is. Skrillex never gets old. Ever. This mix leads off with an under-appreciated banger from the webternetz, “Cat Rats,” which just so happens to be slowed down to exactly the right speed. It doesn’t take hardly enough time to settle in before the floor drops out, and you sink into a KOAN Sound banger with the vastness of an ocean. The timing of this mix is excellent, and the songs are all expertly arranged; I expected nothing less of BBC Radio 1, and they delivered. Download this mix while you can, and enjoy yourself all of the amenities of a 20 minute Owsla throwdown, without having to leave your headphones.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: King Fantastic – Appreciation (3 Stripes and Troublemaker Remix)

Appreciation by King Fantastic (3 Stripes and Troublemaker Remix) by

This one drops in hard. The lead-in is crisp and full, with grimey vocals and heavy saws. The intonation on the leads is euphoric, and the beat has you constantly begging for more. The theme is simple and amazing, with ambitious buildups and deal-closing drops. The vocals are like the icing on the cake, touting the philosophy “smoke good, drink good, eat a lot of steak, man,” and you know what? I couldn’t agree more. Close you eyes and get absorbed by this one, but be careful you don’t float into space.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Proper Villains & Hellfire Machina – Tooty Fruity

Proper Villains & Hellfire Machina – Tooty Fruity by proper villains

Warning: This track causes brain damage… In a good way! Proper Villains show up yet again with another grimey banger. This track just reeks of filth. The drop wastes no time, cutting to the chase with the precision of a cruise missile, and a comparable amount of force. The snares are ghetto-sick, along with the high-pitched piano melodies and searing, tweeting lead synths. The bass is thicker than your momma, and is just as merciful on your ears. The cymbals are glitzy and shimmery with great phasy/flangy effects. Don’t be afraid to blast this one in your ride so that all of the other drivers out there can hear it.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Ke$ha – Cannibal (DarkElixir Remix)

Cannibal by Kesha (DarkElixir Remix) by

Fat as hell from the get go, DarkElixir murders this remix. Ke$ha’s already club-friendly feel is brought to a whole new level of energy in this one. The buildup is just… awesome. LFO rich synths carry you through to an arpeggiated bit-madness that drops off like the face of a glacier. Though the bass melody doesn’t really go anywhere uncharted, the idea is well communicated and the textures are very agreeable. DarkElixir does what dubbers do best: turns a shitty song good. This is not an exception, and though the second drop may teeter on the edge of forgettable, it won’t matter when you mix it into your party and blow a few minds for a second. They’ll be like, “I’ve heard this… but not like THIS,” and bam… you’re popular.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Montee Impish – Vanilla (cut)

Montee Impish – Vanilla (cut) by Bad Boys Records

Montee Impish? Alright, I can dig it. The synth lead is very accomplished and expressive. The pitch shifting accentuates the already floaty, blissful “Wave Race 64” feel of the track expertly, and the warbly LFOs give it even more attitude and personality. The simple saw progression never falls flat with the help of the searing synth, and the drums are unobtrusive, but unfortunately less-than-noticed. Build-ups are solid, and bass leads are impressively complete and emotive, with the perfect amount of sidechain to give it bounce. Unfortunately, everything good that I can say about this song is overshadowed by an obnoxious cutaway right in the middle… Just give it away, man. You can’t be afraid of pirates, bro, they make the rules. Beat them at their own game. Other than that, nice track Montee. Keep up the good, although needlessly exclusive, work.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: High Scarlet – Archetype

High Scarlet – Archetype ( free DL °°) by Middle Finger Music

Right of the bat, this song hooks with an enticingly unpredictable piano groove, laced generously with reverb. It builds up into sharp pads and strings, then dumps quickly into an erratic and delightful Styx-like synth melody. It’s hard to deny the Skrillex influence here, and it’s not without due appreciation. The growls hold back just the right amount, and supports the uplifting melody nicely. The elements are a little foggy, and the drums samples aren’t terribly impressive, but all of that falls by the wayside when you take into account the sheer inspiration and melodic value of the piece. The pace is fast and furious, and the drops and breaks are perfectly timed and executed. Middle Finger Music always shows up to the party; Archetype is one for the bag, and High Scarlet is one for the radar.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Xtra Testosterone – Hardstyle Design (Original Mix)

Xtra Testosterone-Hardstyle design(Original Mix) by XTRA TESTOSTERONE

More from Xtra Testosterone. Besides having a ridiculous name, Xtra does a banging job on the hardstyle grooves. This one may not be for everyone, but if you have a knack for filth, or a background with metal or punk, you may find this one tickling your neckbones. Listen deep: the quality is there, even though the presentation is simple and straightforward. This is the type of track that gives real truth to Tenacious D’s “One Note Song.” It proves that, with the right instruments, it isn’t that impossible to achieve.

  • FREE MIX DOWNLOAD: Pillow Talk – Sneak-A-Toke Mix

SNEAK-A-TOKE MIX (NOVEMBER 2011) by PillowTalk.

This mix is MASSIVE. I’ll be honest; I haven’t the foggiest clue who Pillow Talk is, but this is off the hook. This stream boasts almost an hour of heavy, filthy dubstep, masterfully mixed and presented in one clean cut for your downloading and listening pleasure. This is a diverse mix of songs with a great overall feel. They’re all top-notch bangers. Honestly, I probably could’ve just posted this mix alone and let Pillow Talk do my job for me this week. Big ups to all the artists in this tracklist, and a huge round of applause for Pillow Talk for stitching the bitch together so elegantly.

  • FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Datsik & Bassnectar – Elevate

Datsik & Bassnectar – Elevate by Datsik
Alright, Datsik, that’s more like it man! I don’t even know where to start… The production value of this track is beyond my level of comprehension. This has everything a good dubstep track needs. The buildups are huge, the gaps are a mile wide, and soaked in effects. There are so many subtle elements colliding that I don’t think I can even cover it in a paragraph. This is a bang-up track, and proves for good that Datsik is on the level. I don’t know if this is a rebound from that “Blaze It Up” debacle or what, but it’s got me regretting that I ever once doubted the SIKness that is Datsik. And that’s not all, folks. Datsik just uploaded a metric assload of material for your downloading pleasure which I will direct your attention to NOW.
