We talk a lot about the rappers that are giving back to their fans with mixtapes and other free material. Generally speaking, these are the rappers who are topping charts and touring the world, which is fine, but the truth is that most the UTG staff spends their time listening to artists of a different breed. We prefer those still hungry for the limelight, pouring their soul onto every verse they can while hustling their tracks to any and everyone that will listen. It is there, amongst the fight to make a dream your life, that we find the best art is created. If you agree, Chip Tha Ripper’s Tell Ya Friends may very well be your first love of 2012.
Featuring twenty-two tracks of standout hip hop talent, Tell Ya Friends is further proof of Chip Tha Ripper’s forthcoming breakthrough to the mainstream and UTG wants to make sure you are prepared with our pick for the record’s five best tracks. Some feature guests, all of whom deserve your attention, but all make it clear Chip is one to watch in the new year. Click past the jump to discover, stream, download, and enjoy!

It’s crazy how hard Chips been working for so long. I remember him from his MONEY days and he’s stayed true to him self while still improving. I just hope when he does go mainstream he doesn’t sell out.
