Drake Disses Common While Saying He Will Not Diss Common

The world of hip hop has been waiting to see how YMCMB rapper Drake would respond to disses directed at him from Common on the “Stay Schemin (Remix).” Today we get our answer.

In a new interview with Nah Right, Drake reveals he does not plan to release a lyrical reply to Common. When asked if he plans to release a response track, the “Headlines” rappers commented:

No. Because despite how it’s been worded by him that situation is not a “hip hop moment” or a “battle for the sake of musical integrity”…it’s a ploy for attention around the release of an album. More than anything it was just disappointing cause what kid isn’t a fan of what Common has done for our genre. A guy who made such an incredible career for himself based off expressing genuine feelings about life and love is now targeting me for sharing my story.

Now correct me if I’m wrong, but is Drake not still dissing Common? He’s doing the interview equivalent of calling someone a sellout and chances are that will hit much closer to home than any verse will.

No reply from Common’s camp as of this post. We will keep you updated with any further developments.
