UTG PHOTOS: Rise Against (1/26/12)

Under The Gun recently sent Staff Photographer Kellie Gannon to photograph the Rise Against tour.

Thursday, January 26th, I ventured down to Kent State University to photograph my first show of 2012, & I couldn’t have picked a better one! This current tour features Rise Against supported by The Menzingers and A Day To Remember. Rise Against last made a stop in Cleveland back in September with The Foo Fighters, and Rise Against continues to push forward into the new year with another amazing tour lineup.

First to take the stage was The Menzingers, who brought their vivacious energy along with their indie punk roots to amp the crowd up. Their debut album, titled On The Impossible Past, is set to be released February 21st on Epitaph Records, and was a focus of their set.

Next up was A Day To Remember, who will stop at nothing to ensure their crowd has an unforgettable time at their shows. This time was no exception, with rolls of toilet paper, beach balls, as well as an abundance of balloons that rained down on the crowd at the end of their set. Fresh off headlining a successful summer of Warped Tour 2011, ADTR came out in full force with opening song “The Downfall of Us All”, non-stop jumping around on stage mirrored with the entire crowd on their toes. They played songs off their current album, What Separates Me From You, which is available in stores and online now.

Rise Against took the stage, strong and unfaltering. They always give their all onstage, showcasing eternal passion for their music as well as for the political and environmental issues they are influential and outspoken about. This tour is in support of their current album, Endgame, while they also played songs off their previous two albums. Lead vocalist Tim McIlrath has boundless amounts of charisma to match his unsurpassed vocals, and the band’s passion and liveliness onstage keeps the crowd engaged from the first note to the last. Be sure to check out the photos below for all the fun from this tour!!
