The Word Alive Not Replacing Keyboardist

Last night we brought you news that The Word Alive had parted ways with drummeer Justin Salinas and keyboardist Dusty Riach. Following the announcement, vocalist Telle Smith spent some time responding to comments regarding the situation on absolutepunk, and that’s when the story begin to grow.

Over the course of multiple posts, Smith shed ever more light on recent developments, specifically mentioning they will not seek a replacement for Riach. Responding to user Rob McWilliams, Smith wrote:

“We’re not replacing Dusty, we’ve really been developing our programming. Zack and Tony on top of guitar duties have written some really cool electronic shit. We’ll just use live samples as we’ve been doing more and more this past year.”

Smith went on share his thoughts on Riach and Salinas’ plans for the future, as well as a few teasing comments about The Word Alive’s highly anticipated Sophomore effort.

Dusty will most likely be joining another band I’d imagine, Justin is staying home and just moved back to Portland yesterday where he’s from. We leave for the studio in 3 days, on schedule. We’re not saying much about it right now because honestly, what is the point before you have new music to back up what you say? We’ll just do what we were planning for this record and hopefully our fans will stick by us, and maybe we can pickup a few new ones along the way :)

You can browse the entire thread on Absolutepunk. The Word Alive are currently working on new material and will be releasing a record later this year. Stay tuned.
