DAMMIT: The Bunny The Bear Continue To Make Music

The Bunny The Bear have announced plans to release yet another album in May.

The third worst band to sign to Victory Records in the last decade (behind Dr. Acula and Design The Skyline), The Bunny The Bear are one of the “insert word”-core acts that refuses to die even though the age of Myspace has officially rotted into nothing more than a digital corpse. Their debut album was so bad three different site critics had to be assigned it just to have a review come back that was longer than “fuck this band” and now they have more on the way. A video announcing their album, which finds “The Bunny” talking directly to the camera while wearing his $5 party store mask, can be found after the jump.

Before you ask, no, we do not have The Stomach For another round of their bullshit laid to tape.

We have wasted plenty of digital space complaining about the terrible decisions taking place within the brightly painted walls of Victory Records, but rushing another album from The Bunny The Bear is a new low point. I honestly find it impossible to believe any real fan of music appreciate this group or the lethargically heavy sound they create. If I’m wrong, tell us! Comment below and defend these poorly misguided musicians.

    I actually love these guys….
And Dr. Acula isn’t half bad either. Design the Skyline is a BIT
ridiculous, but I don’t really understand the hate towards them either. The only bands I like in this little area of music are Black Veil Brides, Blood on the Dance Floor, and Brokencyde.

  4. ………………………….*cough* SHIT *cough*. Oh sorry, I am allergic to retard.

  5. Ismile41182 says:

This is the only “professional” band I’ve ever had the pleasure of walking out of during a live set.  I am a musician and always show respect towards other bands but these guys piss me off.  2 unnecessary front men with stupid ass masks, random vocal melodies, and guitarists who look like they should be in a shitty Metallica cover band.  Seriously, if you are a promoter do not ever get sucked into working with these guys, they have VERY little to offer.

  6. are you fucking kidding me says:

oh my god….. you have probably the worst taste in music I have ever seen, you deserve something for that.

  7. Nbrehm92 says:

    Definitely an underrated band.

  8. Nick Alley says:

Yup, you’re wrong.  These guys are the only band in this “whatevercore” genre that I like, and I dont really like more than half of their songs.  I’m not going to defend this band, you can like whatever you like, but I wouldn’t have ever discovered this band if it wasnt for reviews saying how awful they are.  When I see 50 reviews about a band that say they are fucking terrible and theres no reason anyone with good taste should like them, I just HAVE to check it out.  I know this threads gonna turn into a shitfest of flaming, you guys have fun bitching about bands you don’t like, I’ll be busy listening to bands I DO like.

  9. Squeecky12345 says:

Ok because its not the genre you like you dis it. Grow the fuck up and learn to appreciate things other than the main stream bull shit your sucking the cunts of.

  10. Brianosorio says:

This page is ridiculous, TBTB posted this on their page to show their fans how ridiculous some of these pages are and really this “review” is nothing but a farce. You really know nothing about this band. They don’t sound like some “-core” band. They dont even have breakdowns in their songs, no auto tune. It’s pure singing and screaming from Time to time. And lyrics have substance. The only complaint I have is how simple their drummr and guitars are. This is a review from someone who actually took the time to listen to their music and not one song off their debut.

  11. Nikkimomo says:

Honestly the person who wrote this review has not even met these people in person, they are amazing to talk to about anything when their off-set and their live performance is truelly spectacular! I hope to see them again near my home :D
If you don’t like this band, fine.
But seriously, you have wasted time on this review since that 99% people are gonna say that they love this band. And it’s facebook official, the band has over 35,000 likes so.. Sorry to whom ever the person is but, your lack of knowledge for your taste in this band has been over ruled :D

  12. Motionsickness6661 says:

so just because your forte of music isnt what they play your going to publicly bash them? im sorry but you don’t sound to credible to me. if you are to review things you are supposed to give an unbiased opinion and review the work from the perspective of someone who would enjoy it. and sadly enough you show you intelligence level by saying they should have died out because myspace is dead. are you that much of a butt hurt dweller that you base a bands rightful popularity off of a website? HA! theres a reason they are popular in a sense. and thats because, wait heres the kicker…. PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIKE THERE MUSIC. and they are more creative then brokencyde or blood on the dance floor. the bunny actually plays piano more then 98%(stat not accurate) of bands can say about any of there members. the singing is very well done, the songs even though there is eletronics and screaming are very well composed. over all i love the band but if i had to review them WITH NO BIAS id have to give them either a 7 or 8 out of 10.

  13. Scaryhorizons says:

FUCK OFF HATERS! GO MAKE A FUCKING MUSIC FOR YOURSELF! YOU ALL MORE SHIT THAN THESE GUYS! YOU ALL HATERS ONLY KNOW TO COMPLAIN! FUCK OFF!

  14. TBTBsexytime says:

The Bunny The Bear is awesome, their music is unique, just like Brokencyde and I Set My Friends On Fire, their different so most people hate them, but the truth is I love different, we need different, so fuck all you haters, stop complaining about the bands you don’t like and go back to listening to all your mainstream bands that get way overplayed on the radio! One last request to The Bunny The Bear, please don’t try to change your music so more people will like it like Brokencyde and ISMFOF did, please keep it real, and stay the same, you guys are one of my favorite bands:)

  15. Tony Clifton says:

I am a promoter and venue owner since 1996 . I have worked with these guys and have them booked again .It is about what the fans like , not whatever cool daddy has the power of booking a place likes . These guys sound different than most of the crap thats out there , original and catchy IMO . If a band walks off the stage 9 times out of 10 the venue dropped the ball too many times and failed the band and customers . I could see where a bunch of dream theater loving douche bags would pick this apart , but those failed musician types need to stick to reviewing bands and working in music stores ripping people off . A bad music critic is a good thing for reference as long as they keep their shitty standard the same

  16. Suzannaaprilchong says:

I highly Disagree, but ur opinion matters… Sorta… Ok not really. Just because you don’t like there amazing Genre that is made with the Most beautiful lyrics ever. That’s your fault. But you shouldn’t be putting them down. There are many people here in my Town who love them, an Fuck u if they knew u were the one writing all this Bullshit. I love TBTB an there amazing lyrics have gotten me by since Last year <3 :)

  17. Nikkimomo,

    Thanks for the comment!

For starters, this is not a review, more an editorial column based on a recent news item.Secondly, I am interested in the fact you believe meeting a band in person would give one more grounds to decide whether or not they are talented. Having written about music for the better part of a decade, I have met many acts I thought were shit that have great members behind it, but that did not change my opinion on their music. That would be like the pop rapping terribly, but everyone supporting him because he’s a “nice guy.” It makes no sense.Further, if you believe 35,000 likes is a sign of success, you’re in for an awful wakeup call in life. Just like Twitter followers and Myspace friends, the # of likes someone has is in no way a relation to their actual level or popularity or skill.

  18. I be Jay says:

So, if you hate them so much, why in the Hell are you promoting them. Good job, fuck face. Just because you have little man syndrome and can’t please you’re mother and she starts bitching at you means you have to have your little fingers type “insulting” remarks. You sir, are an idiot, and a fag.

  19. For starters, you meant “people actually like THEIR music.” There are three kinds of “there” to be used, make sure your defense equips the right one.

Now, as I have said elsewhere, this is not a review. This is an editorial column. Just because a site is called “review” does not inherently make everything a review. In fact, we label every review with the word “REVIEW” just to help those who may find themselves confused. You say you have no bias towards the band, but your reasons for why they are good involves comparisons to other bands, so I think you’re already shooting yourself in the foot. Further, I can tell you right now that TBTB use backing tracks live, just like most other modern bands, so please make sure you have your facts straight before stepping up with a defense.

  20. tHeBuNnYtHeBeAr says:

Great band, The Bunny is a badass and The Bear…it takes some serious vocals to go that high, lets see someone else do that, and someone that big, he deserves an award, so fuck all you haters, leave this sick ass band alone before you scare them into changing like Brokencyde and I Set My Friends On Fire did.

  21. Motionsickness6661 says:

not to mention they wouldn’t be touring the country or getting booked decent sized venues if they weren’t popular. did you even read my comment?

  22. Sterryness2010 says:

I love TBTB they have their own style and that amazing so you clearly don’t see decent talent you tards.

  23. JTC84 says:

I like TBTB because of their unusual sound…I mean one guy is screaming and growling and the other guy sings higher than my sister…I just enjoy listening to these guys and I hope they continue to make music

  24. Motionsickness6661 says:

ok so you ignored the part where i said the had good composition and all that other shit rightttttttttttt. go ahead and skim through the comments and yadadadada(i put that there cause you probably won’t read it). and yeah you kinda showed your bias as soon as you stated that you hated there genre. fuck you im off this shitty site havefun jerkin it to tranny porn or whatever it is you do with your sad sad dweller life.

  25. Clemsoncowboy15 says:

You dumb faggot. Get YOUR facts straight. They dont use backing tracks. Whats the name of your band? Apparently you have a better band if your gonna talk about these guys. Maybe you’re just jealous because they’re succesful musicians while you’re writing reviews on a mediocre site.

  26. Hey, Suck a cock. TBTB is an amazing band that can span many sub genres. Get the pickle out of your ass and get out of the closet.

  27. Brianosorio says:

I support them cuz I like their music and because they care about their fans. Music isn’t bad, it’s just become a band wagon to hate these guys so ppl hate them automatically. Terrible and immature column. You know this a rant. You sounded like a child

  28. I didn’t read everything? Please read my article again and point out the phrase “I hate this genre of music” because I do not see it. One look around UTG will show you that we’re well versed in this scene (and generally supportive).

You want me to give you feedback on EVERYTHING you wrote about? Ok, let’s start with the fact your original comment never mentions “composition,” not even once.

  29. Matt Tybor says:

We do use live backing tracks of synths. I would need to have multiple more musicians playing the music I write live if I wanted to pull off the high amount of keys. you are correct james.

And I will ADD that I take NO OFFENSE to your opinion. In general, I enjoy hearing all ends of opinions on the music I write. And I saw your twitter ;) haha. I’m having fun, not attacking you bro.

I, in fact, enjoy and agree with a bulk amount of your reviews.

EVERYONE has a right to their own taste and opinion.

  30. utgjames says:

    Thanks Matt!

As I said below, I am more than sure you are all good dudes out to make music that your fans want to hear. I can appreciate that, really, but my job is to give my opinion on the industry news and happenings, which you clearly understand. I harbor no hard feelings towards you OR your bandmates, I’m just not partial to the art you create. That said, I will defend to the death your right to create it :)

  31. Matt Tybor says:

I do think it is a tad tasteless in a minor way, as a reviewer, bashing something before you hear, view, have at it in general. But that’s just my personal opinion. But again, I enjoy this. And I can’t dislike you, personally, for disliking me or my music. Only the way you state your opinion.

  32. utgjames says:

Point taken and accepted. I promise now that, if Haley and the gals at Victory send it over, I will listen with an pen mind to the new record. I have been surprised/proven wrong before and would love to have it happen again here because TBTB does bring something unique to the scene. Best of luck to you.

  33. Matt Tybor says:

In all honesty, I don’t make what the fans want to hear. That is most likely a contributing factor dislike towards this project. I write what I want, how I want to. The people who are fans of it are. And those who are not, well, aren’t. “The Stomach For It” is different than the last album on A LOT of different levels. Just like our shit quality release before I.Y.D.H.A.N.T.S was  more experimental. And If you heard the EP that I only have possession of, before that one, you would think it was a totally different project.

In my opinion, a good artist writes, paints and does what feels natural to him at the time of creation. They do not base it off of what they “SHOULD do” or what the current lovers of their art expect or want.I am in no way saying “the stomach for it” if going to bring you some NEW FOUND understanding of what I do. But it’s not “If you don’t have anything nice to say..” It never will be. And that album will never be again.Everything has it’s time and place. And I write and dismiss accordingly. At least you are on the same page about individuals rights to enjoy what they enjoy and create what they want.

  34. Razeshamman says:

Really a whole 3 critics you say wow I can’t believe it that’s Soooo many… jackass just because you don’t like them don’t feed us BS about how bad they must be because of 3 reviews.

  35. I started reading this review by what I thought was a seemingly intelligent writer, with the excitement of seeing that one of my favorite bands, The Bunny The Bear was releasing a new album.  To my disappointment after reading this so called “review”, it came to my attention that the position on music by today’s society is a bit snobbish.  The ridiculousness of the “$5 party store masks” are in fact part of the charm and freshness of the band.  Throughout time society has criticized many musicians out of the norm, most of which turned out to be music icons.  Now I’m not saying TBTB are gonna be music icons, but open your minds people, listen to lyrics, the combination of different musical sounds and harmonies are some of which haven’t been done before!  My hat goes off to you The Bunny The Bear, and I congratulate you for single handedley putting the author of this reviews panties in a wad!! Can’t wait to see you at the Beachum April 28th!!! It won’t just be another train wreck baby, it will be FREAKEN AWESOME!

  36. utgjames says:

Where does it say that this story is a review? Is everything on Rolling Stone a stone?

  37. Trevor says:

gotta say…I completely agree both bands are shit. Not to mention when the bunny the bear played rochester they were all wasted puking and shit falling over. In fact there amps werent even on, the sound guy actually showed me there set up aka just play the song through an ipod. Oh and cant forget that the the bear wanted to fight our old drummer simply for looking at him. I’m sorry but if you dont want people to look at you like your a fuckin idiot maybe you shouldnt wear a bear mask….

  38. Matt Tybor says:

I’ll call you out on that one. Considering the sound guy was pissed about a mic breaking. The dude was a prick. I obviously am not “the bear” and can not comment on that, but if that’s the case and I was there I would have slapped him in the head for being an idiot. ALSO, the amps were and ALWAYS are QUITE on. You’ve been highly misinformed. There are videos on youtube where the pa couldnt even handle our “TRACKS” and all you hear is guitars. No hate. I’m just correcting you false information.

  39. Trevor says:

just saying i played that show, was on stage (side stage) most amps have a light on when they are on, unless yours are different i will continue to tell the story as it played out.

  40. Trevor says:

but i appreciate you hypothetically slapping your band mate for me ha

  41. Tyler says:

There is a difference between leaving a criticle review and just hating on someone. You have clearly crossed the line into the relm of being a hater.

  42. Dakota Perry says:

You really shouldn’t judge a band just by their appearance. I find this review distasteful, as a loyal fan of TBTB. BUT, as a reviewer I am glad you voice your true and honest opinion. (:

  43. MusicalMikus says:

When I first heard “Ocean Floor” I was not sure what to think. I expected another generic scencore band but instead was treated to something different and original. Unlike most of the crap that litters the music world they continue to use electronic elements throughout entire songs, not just stupid random leads during chorus’ or breakdowns. Also, most of their breakdowns are pretty short and are not the focus of an entire song. Whereas most bands sound like one giant breakdown.
When I was told I was going to be playing with them in January, I was a bit nervous. A lot of the time you find a really interesting or good band and they turn out to be utter crap but TBTB can do everything they do in the studio live, and they manage to make it sound better. Their live shows have so much energy, it was like being at a metal dance party.
As to the band members themselves, all of them are great guys. They stayed the entire night, watched all the local bands played and hung out afterwards to talk to the fans.
Original, energetic and truly nice people. Three things most bands seem to be lacking these days.

  44. itsme says:

yeah because this world needs more fucking Justin Bieber fans right?, all im saying is fuck this clown, im now buying 10 copies of this new album!

  45. Eleanor says:

I really think you went about this review wrong. The Bunny The Bear do have a distinct style that is not easy listening but I feel that if it was, some of their songs wouldn’t stand out to me as some of my favourite songs of all time. When I first listened to this band, as I discovered they were supporting a Funeral For A Friend gig I was going to, I was unsure and I did dislike a lot of the music, but I didn’t really understand it. C’est Pas Si Loin, Aisle, Lust Touch Seed and Ocean Floor are now four favourite songs of mine. I enjoy how TBTB convey emotions through their music, the interesting and clever lyrics that make me think, I adore how unique their sound is. Sure, I don’t love or even like all the songs. But the songs I do like, I don’t just like them, I absolutely love them. Music and music genres are supposed to be varied, because that’s what makes the world not boring, and I am really glad Victory signed them – it shows that they are a forward thinking label that isn’t going to hold back genuine songwriting talent just because it’s not everybody’s cup of tea. For me this band were not a mistake. and slating that any ‘real fan of music’ couldn’t appreciate them, well that’s just backward. Any ‘real fan of music’, whatever you even mean by that, would give this band a chance rather than bashing them on a review site because the music is not to their taste.

  46. Weaver88amanda says:

Wow. Bashing a record before you hear it, that’s mature. I actually want to thank you for promoting their video though.. I love this band!! They are so different in such great ways. They stick by their fans and also keep a great attitude about this horrible “review”. Go to a show of theirs.. you might get a little perk down there..

  47. Alyravenous16 says:

I love this band, if you hate them so much, DON’T LISTEN TO THEM. It’s that simple. Fuck you.

  48. Marine_55 says:

They are DEFINITELY not the worst band to sign to victory.  I mean, come one, those guys signed douches like Aiden and shit.  There were a bunch of terrible bands signed to victory before they got their head back on straight and signed TBTB.  Your “pre-review” is the least professional thign I have ever seen a reviewer do.  but its ok, everyone has an opinion, some just show more of the asshole in it than others.  – Das Bearen Juden

  49. bigpandaman says:

this band brings a new taste to the everyday music now. TBTB has something asking alexandria or bring me the horizon dosent have which is a style of music and clean vocals i haven’t heard any other band have. wither this band becomes number one or number 100 i give  them props for doing something i wish i can do. hate them all you want but i see talent in them unlike many other bands and i be dammed if they dont get what they deserve, im  a TBTB fan like it or not i want them to go further and show everyone wrong and lets face it there music brings SEXYTIME!

  50. matt your a inspiration to me i want a band like this (not exactly the same) i want to have music people like and to see you post this critics review on facebook were all your fans to see gave this band more respect from me. dont stop giving up man! mad respect from me!
