No Sleep Records Signs Lowtalker (Ex Living with Lions and Comeback Kid)

No Sleep Records announced today that they are signing Wisconsin natives Lowtalker to their label, and will be releasing an EP with them later this year. With a roster that comprises of some other gret post-punk/hardcore acts, this acquisition is sure to be fantastic. The band features members from around the area (and that are in different bands) so it’s been a while for them to get together and finally put out a follow up to their 2010 release People Worry About Everything.

You can check out the statement from No Sleep Records after the break and let UTG know what you think of the new signing!

Comprised of Stu Ross (ex-Misery Signals, ex-Living With Lions), Matt Keil (Comeback Kid) and Casey Hjelmberg (Comeback Kid), Lowtalker formed in 2008, taking their name from the classic “Puffy Shirt” episode of “Seinfeld.”  Between being scattered all over the country and touring with other bands, it took them until 2010 to record their first EP People Worry About Everything in their hometown of  Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Since the the release of People Worry About Everything Lowtalker has toured North America and continued to develop as musicians and songwriters. The distance between members makes a typical schedule impossible, but hasn’t stopped the constant writing and collaboration that defined the band in the first place.   Their continued effort and uncompromising music led the band to president of No Sleep Records, Chris Hansen, who signed the band with plans to release their label debut later this year.

“We are proud and excited to announce that we’ve signed with No Sleep Records!,” says Keil.  “ We’re big fans of what the label is about and what they’ve done, and we think it’s the perfect home for our band.  Chris and company understand and love music and have devoted themselves to supporting it from the ground up.  Right now we’re in the studio in Minneapolis putting together our new EP which will come out on No Sleep this summer. We’re working with our friends Brian Moen and Zach Hansen in a couple different rooms in town, along with some help from Adam Krinsky. We can’t wait to share these songs with everyone and get back on the road soon. We’re going to try and share some studio notes and footage so keep up with us at lowtalkermusic.tumblr.com.  Thanks for your support!”

“I’ve been a fan of Lowtalker ever since they released their debut 10” in 2010,” adds Hansen.  “It was an amazing EP that sadly was not as appreciated as it should have been, from a group of dudes from equally amazing bands.  Beyond stoked to work with these guys and finally bring more Lowtalker to the world.  Can’t wait to hear the new songs for the first of what I hope will be many releases with these guys!  Be on the lookout for a new EP this summer, and more to follow!
