mewithoutYou Interviewed By Absolutepunk

Our friends over at Absolutepunk have interviewed frontman Aaron Weiss (mewithoutYou) and discuss the band’s new record, Ten Stories, religion, and much more. Read an exceprt by simply looking below and read the entire interview by clicking here.

“Something about selling tickets or CD’s to hear someone sing about “God” seems pretty off-point to me now. This has always been a muddled region to me, and I’ve always been conflicted about it. It’s only been recently that I’ve been able to stop trying to reconcile the two, and say plainly that I enjoy playing music for my own sake, for selfish reasons, and that as far as I know it has nothing at all to do with God. I’m not proud of the state I’m in, not proud of my ego-motivations or desire for approval. But it is a relief to not feel the need to pretend to be something I’m not, to parade myself as any kind of teacher or as righteous or holy in any way. I do want to be those things, but the more I examine my own thoughts, the further I feel from the ideals I’ve long been preaching about.”
