If there is one horror series that the UTG staff loves above all others, it’s Hatchet. Brought into the world from the mind of Adam Green, the tale of Victor Crowley has been one that both modernized and rejuvenated the slasher genre, and today we finally learned a bit about the series’ third chapter.

Currently being filmed in the swamps of Louisiana, Variety reports Hatchet 3 has landed a who’s-who of slasher film legends to round out the cast. According to an article that went live today, the (potential) new victims includes: Derek Mears (Friday the 13th), Caroline Williams (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs), Diane Goldner (The Collector) and The FP writer-director Jason Trost.

Though details surrounding the film’s plot are still being kept as tightly under wraps as possible, Variety did let the following slip regarding two of the film’s main characters:

Mears, who recently starred in “The Aggression Scale,” will play a brooding, pompous SWAT team leader who is sent in to contain the carnage strewn about the haunted swamp.

Williams will play a fast-talking journalist who fancies herself an expert on the legend of supernatural stalker Crowley.

Original Hatchet cameraman BJ McDonnell is making his directorial debut with Hatchet 3. The film currently has no release date.
