MOVIE TEASER: “We Want The Airwaves: The WFNX Story”

Last month news broke that longtime independent radio station WFNX would be sold to Clear Channel pending FCC approval. While the death of a radio station in the new millennium is nothing new, the significance of WFNX is second-to-none for anyone who has spent time in New England over the past quater-century. From breaking and supporting developing artists, to keeping close ties with the local community/scene, this Boston radio station did more for indie music than a dozen blogs could ever hope to and their downfall serves as yet another nail in the coffin of independent radio.

Fortunately, the life of WFNX has been documented and will soon be released for the masses. A new film called We Want The Airwaves: The WFNX is in the works and a teaser trailer has been made available online. You can view the clip after the jump.

No details on the film’s release, but we will be keeping an eye out for updates. Stay tuned.
