HOLY SH!T: “Curse Of Chucky” Shoots This Fall

Remember Chucky? Child’s toy possessed by an evil spirit who kills people and utters darkly hilarious things? Well he remembers you (or so my evil cousins used to tell me), and he’s aiming to make a BIG comeback over the next few years. Not only is MGM is (still) reportedly working on a remake of Chucky’s original romp, Child’s Play, but Moviehole is now reporting that Universal is keeping their piece of the character alive this Fall by beginning production on Curse Of Chucky.

Headed for the direct-to-dvd market, Curse Of Chucky finds our beloved stuffed friend arriving to wreck havoc within a family that’s regrouped for a funeral. In the wake of her mother’s passing, a young woman – in a wheelchair since birth – is forced to put up with her sister, brother-in-law, niece and their nanny as they say their goodbyes to mother. When people start turning up dead, the fearless Nica discovers the culprit might be a “strange doll” she was sent a couple of days earlier.

Sounds better than you expected, right?

You can read the full details on the production, including a few bits about an underlying goal of making things scary again, here.

You know UTG loves horror, so expect to see plenty of Chucky on our site when cameras begin rolling in September.
