The Dark Knight Rises Earns $25 Million In Advance Ticket Sales Alone

With just one day to go until its release worldwide, the Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer (our emphasis) The Dark Knight Rises has already clocked up a mouth-watering $25 million in advance ticket sales. Christopher Nolan’s final Batman behemoth is capitalising on a viral marketing campaign and the anticipation of cinema-goers everywhere as it looks ripe to smash the $158.4 million opening of its predecessor, The Dark Knight.

That the movie is in 2D alone makes this tally all the more impressive, as fellow hot property The Avengers had the advantage of 3D mark-up prices on tickets when it broke box-office records with a $207.4 million three-day taking earlier this year. The Dark Knight Rises, which stars Christian Bale in his final outing as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside the likes of Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, and Michael Caine, is also getting the widest IMAX release of all time with 330 theatres set to screen the film in this format.

The movie has not been without controversy this week, as ratings site Rotten Tomatoes had to shut down its comments section due to exceedingly negative feedback on poor reviews of the film.

UTG’s review of The Dark Knight Rises will be available very soon. Will you be one of the viewers hitting cinemas as soon as possible tomorrow? Let us know in the comments below!
