Winter Haven, Florida alternative rock quintet, Anberlin, will be releasing their sixth album, Vital, sometime in mid-October via Universal Republic Records. Vital will be Anberlin’s first record since their divisive 2010 album, Dark Is the Way, Light Is a Place. As well, Anberlin have revealed to AbsolutePunk.net that Vital‘s first single, “Self Starter”, will drop on August 1.

In an interview with AbsolutePunk.net, Anberlin lead singer, Stephen Christian, proclaimed that he wants Vital to be “one with the fans.” Christian has hinted in the past that Vital will be Anberlin’s hardest-hitting record to date. He further echoed those statements to AbsolutePunk.net, claiming,

My favorite part of a show is when everybody is in utter chaos. There’s bodies on top of bodies. There’s people in the front row screaming where I can see the veins in their neck at me. That’s what I want and so that’s the record I felt Vital should be, is one with the fans. This is the record I want them screaming back at me every time we play live.
