Travis Barker To Join Blink 182 On Australian Tour

Excellent news from the Blink 182 camp this morning, as it appears that contrary to previous assertions, Travis Barker will indeed be joining them on their 2013 tour of Australia. The drummer, who was involved in a nightmare plane crash with DJ AM in 2008, had earlier said that he wouldn’t be travelling with the band as he is still struggling to overcome a fear of flying in the wake of the crash.

However, Barker now intends to join the band for the Soundwave Festival in February 2013, with both the band and festival promoter A.J. Maddah tweeting the news to fans –

Barker has said in the past that he hopes to overcome his phobia for his children’s sake – “I’m contemplating getting knocked out and getting on a plane to Australia. I want to overcome that eventually. My kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it.”

This is obviously tremendous news for Australian fans and the band members themselves, and a wonderful step for Barker in getting back on the road in full. Anyone out there headed to Soundwave next year? Send us your thoughts on Blink 182’s appearance!
