UTG PREMIERE: My Mouth Is The Speaker – A Stunning Example EP

There is a lot to enjoy about being an editor of a rising entertainment webzine. Early releases, meetings with musicians, and lifelong friendships make their way into my life all the time. I love all of the perks and challenges the responsibility brings. Out of all of these perks and challenges, however, the ones I enjoy the most are those involving exciting new bands.

Finding a young band  isn’t hard. They are literally everywhere. Every town has one. Usually, they suck. That’s just statistics at work. Finding a GOOD young band is hard. It’s really hard. You might only find a GOOD band every 50 miles or so. Out of those, only a small handful of them are REALLY GOOD. Finding one of those bands is the greatest thing that could happen to a connoisseur of new music. Impulse Artists is a music management and public relations with a knack for seeking out these REALLY GOOD bands. One of those bands was one plucked out right from under my northeastern Ohioan nose.

Allow us to introduce (or perhaps reintroduce) to you My Mouth Is the Speaker.

My Mouth Is the Speaker is a pop-rock quintet from Akron, OH with a lot to prove. It’s a cluttered scene here in the NEO. There are a lot of bands and only so many clubs to play. The tight space doesn’t seem to bother these guys too much. They have a big sound, they make room.

In 2010, the band released Landmarks, a full length record that caught my ear. What caught my eye was the geographic location tied to the record though, how had I missed these guys? A better question, why was I told about them by someone in California? After really listening, I got it. They had it, that spark, “it factor,” or whatever you’d like to call it. This was a special band.

Not long ago, MMITS premiered a new single on AltPress called “Give Us A Sign” that would appear on the EP we have for you today. I was floored. In just a short amount of time, they had pulled everything together. No loose ends. Perfectly polished.

I could rave for hours about My Mouth Is the Speaker, but in the end, I want you you listen and form your own opinion. That’s why we’ve worked it out with the band to premiere their new EP, A Stunning Example, a full week early.

The stream is now closed. You can purchase the EP on iTunes.
