“Oogieloves” Set Record For Lowest Grossing Wide Release

Sunday is usually when we run our box office update, and surely it will be here soon, but for now we have a story that goes far beyond the weekend top 10.

This holiday weekend, one film rose (or rather, fell) beyond all others to set an opening weekend record. Oogieloves In The BIG Balloon Adventure opened in 2,160 theaters this past week, and brought in a weekend total of only $448,000, making it lowest grossing wide release of all time. That’s right, even worse than Creature.

So, what happened? Why did no one love the Oogieloves? I have no idea, and based on the cumulative box office total since the film’s release last Wednesday, I’d wager it’s hard to find anyone with a real opinion seeing as no one actually saw this “interactive” feature.

We tried to talk Justin Proper into going for “How Bad Is It?,” he told us, “hell no.”
