‘Brave Little Toaster’ To Get Revamped as CGI/Live-Action Hybrid

I can’t figure out whether I should smile or cry: TheFilmStage and The Wrap are reporting that Waterman Entertainment is currently developing a Brave Little Toaster remake that will consist of both CGI and live action footage, rather than just animation. Also they will be adding in new technology to the motley crew of appliances, including an iPhone. An iPhone. John Ranft, the original screenplay writer of Brave Little Toaster, will be returning for this reimagining.

Some people probably read the headline and went “HOLY SH!T I’M STOKED,” while others like me just groaned. I’m getting so tired of remakes, so tired of people just taking something that has some brand awareness and then rehashing it for a younger audience. I personally loved the original movie (found it terrifying at parts), but I don’t see how this could work.  And at the very least how can we expect to take things seriously when the household appliances can just look up on their smart phone friend the answers to the debacle that they are in. What if they’re in a place with bad cell phone reception? Then I guess their new friend is useless. I just don’t think this is a great idea. We’ll see how it turns out, but for right now I’m on the cynical side.

You can watch the entire Brave Little Toaster movie after the break. Yes. The entire movie. Just cause I love you.

They may as well have put this in the hands of Michael Bay. Ruining my fucking childhood.
