WATCH: The Hobbit (Trailer 2)

HAPPY TOLKIEN WEEK EVERYBODY! If you weren’t excited like me already, here’s another reason to be stoked: the new trailer for Peter Jackon’s The Hobbit released today, and it’s breathtaking. Sure, the first trailer that was released got me so unbelievably happy, but for whatever reason hearing all of the characters speak, interact, and feeling the general tone of the film gets me more excited. If we can take anything away from the trailer it is that the movie will still be quite serious, while at the same time bringing some lighthearted fun to Middle Earth. I’m totally okay with that, and I think it will be a welcome stylistic change to the film world Jackson has created. For those who haven’t read The Hobbit, the book is a lot more playful than the Lord of the Rings series, so this style change is completely in line with the source material. Which rules. Also, it’s Tolkien Week, so celebrate by cracking into a good book.

You can check out the trailer after the break, but do me a favor. Stream it in HD, wait for it to buffer, and watch it in all its glory.
