Muse Accused of $3.5 Million Song Theft, to Premiere New Songs on Jools Holland

Muse and record label Warner Music are being sued to the tune of $3.5 million, as an unheard of songwriter accuses them of stealing his song idea for the concluding to their last album, the Exogenesis suite.

Charles Bolfrass says he contacted three bands including Muse in 2005 about his idea for a space rock opera, which accordingly all rejected the idea that Muse then allegedly stole.

The band has already denied stealing the idea, with a rep saying “The claim is complete nonsense, and is categorically denied.  It appears to be based on a ‘screenplay’ which the band never received or saw, produced by someone the band has never heard of.  It speaks volumes that the album in question was released a full 3 years ago, and yet this is the first that has been heard of these groundless allegations.

In peachier Muse news, the band will be playing the Later… Live with Jools Holland show on September 25 at 10 PM GMT (that’s England, folks). They’ve already announced they will debut new songs at said performance.

Muse’s next album, The 2nd Law, is set to be released on October 2nd in the United States, but will be released as early as September 28th in several countries.
