DAMMIT: It Seems The Smiths Are NOT Reuniting

Yesterday, a blog no one on our staff has ever read by the name of HolyMoly reported that they were absolutely sure they could confirm at least one reunion by The Smiths in 2013. We didn’t run the story because, well, we’ve learned from the last half decade of coverage that this rumor, much like the ones about Acceptance getting back together, are likely to come up every six to twelve months. This one seemed legit enough though, and as the day rolled on, a plethora of blogs picked up the story, but this morning NME is reporting that all hope for Marr and Morissey to set aside their beef was for not. In a letter to NME, Jonny Marr’s manager wrote:

“It isn’t happening. We are fully focused on preparing Johnny’s new album for release and booking shows for 2013.”

You’re going to need Wikipedia if you want all the details surrounding the ongoing feud between Marr and Morissey, but it looks like whatever came between them is still alive and well. Guess we’ll have to wait until Spring 2013 to play this game all over again.
